Top 10 Bra Fit Tips

#BraHack: Here are some bra fit tips to help your bust look perky and youthful. Our trained fit specialists give you the ultimate fit tips for looking and feeling incredible in your bra.

1. Sister Sizes

Did you know your cup size varies based on your band size? A 34C is actually the same cup size as a 36B. This system of sizing is called sister sizing. If your band is too big with a 36B bra, we'll suggest you try a 34C, not a 34B, because the cup sizes are the same. 36B is the same cup as 34C. 38A is the same cup as 36B and 34C and 32D. Good to know, right? If you're interested, we have lots more information about Sister Sizes for you.

2. A Good Strapless Bra Goes with Everything

Invest in a good strapless bra, since they work with just about any top. The possibilities go far beyond off-the-shoulder tops or dresses: our Stay-Up Strapless Upbra bra will work with tank tops, sleeveless or boat neck shirts, sweaters; any style where you don’t want bra straps in the mix. Plus, since our Stay-Up Strapless Upbra stays in place all day thanks to the specialty formulated silicone strips in the wings, you can wear any outfit with confidence, and without the worry of needing to constantly pull and adjust your bra throughout the day.

3. Upbra Bras Work with All Breast Shapes

Breasts come in all sizes and lots of different shapes. And when finding a bra that fits, shape matters almost as much as size. Your breasts may be Athletic, Tear Drop or Bell Shape (to name a few), which affects the style and size of bra that’s right for you. Upbra is one of the only line of bras that works with almost every breast shape .

4. Check In On Your Fit Regularly

A woman’s bra size can change often many times in her life. To ensure that you’re wearing the right size, you need to be fitted regularly. Getting fitted by a professional can be effective if they are indeed a certified bra fitter, but the most effective way to get your size, particularly your Upbra bra size, is to use our free Mobile Bra Size Calculator once a year (or more often if you have noticeable breast size fluctuations) to make sure everything’s properly supported.

5. There's a Right Way to Put on a Bra

This one is easy. Please don't hook in the band at the front of your torso and spin it around. You should always hook the bra in at your back so you are not having to twist and deform your bra. The most effective way to make sure you’re properly filling the cups and lifted into the correct place is to bend over slightly at your waist as you hook in the back of the bra, and then to use your hands to scoop your breasts into each cup. The cup should fully encapsulate each breast without any spillage over the sides or top of the cups. If you do have spillage or gapping, you may need a different size bra. In fact, getting your right size Upbra can help fix many of the common bra fitting problems.

6. Stack Your Bras

For any bra with foam cups, and especially with Upbra bras, don’t turn the cups inside out when you put them away or pack them, and don’t twist the cups around to fit inside each other when storing them. Instead, stack your bras in your drawer or suitcase so they retain their shape and smooth silhouette.

7. Asymmetrical? Totally Normal.

A large percentage of women have breasts that are different sizes. If this is you, remember that it is very normal, and that Upbra bras are independently adjustable on each side, so most women will be able to compensate with an Upbra bra merely by using different lift/cleavage settings on each cup.

8. Don't Skimp On Your Bra

A good bra that fits well makes a big difference in your comfort and confidence. Treat yourself to a few really good bras — you deserve it. There are many qualities that make Upbra bras such a luxury item luxury item and owning a high-quality bra really can change the way you think about wearing them. It's also a great confidence boost, and a great way to treat yourself!

9. Hand Wash. Yes, Really.

Hand washing is much gentler than a machine and will help your bras last far longer. But if you just can’t be bothered, at the very least use a lingerie bag in the machine. Above all, NEVER put your bras in the dryer.

10. If the Bra Fits, Wear it. And Buy an Extra.

A bra that fits perfectly is like a favorite pair of jeans. You need more than one, and having multiple bras will cut down on the daily wear and tear and actually make your bras last longer by spreading out how often each individual bra is worn. Buy a backup or two, and you’ll thank yourself later.
